Let’s talk about the darker and more mysterious side of the internet, also known as The Dark Web.
You’ve probably heard about it, whether it’s referred to as the dark web, the darknet and other names.
The “place” where everything can be achieved, whether it’s legal or not, but is it really a “place”? How does it work? How can we get there? Is it different from the “normal” Internet? Let’s dive in.
A Fair Warning: The Dark Web is a very dangerous place. We highly urge users to tread carefully when experimenting in this area. All content published here is for educational and entertainment purposes only. Cytrix Technologies does not suggest, recommend, or advise users to be active and engage in the Dark Web.
What is the Dark Web?
Some call it “a home for Questionable Sites” because of its nature, others call it “a safe haven for web-criminals”. The Dark Web functions as a home for hidden and illegal websites, websites you won’t find in any typical Google search. This network works in a similar way to the other networks we know and use every single day, but with a small twist, you can’t access it freely. Since these websites are illegal, ISPs and other Government Organizations has blocked access to these sites and overall, many people who manage or surf these sites, would prefer it to stay that way – Closed and Discreet. You can find anything here, from drugs to illegal firearms and even movies that are banned in many countries!
How do we access the Dark Web?
Looking for troubles are we? But seriously, any step or any guide you read on the internet about this could put you at risk if the information is not reliable or effective enough. It’s important to understand that the rules don’t apply there, You Can Never Be 100% Anonymous.

Did it worked?
Of course it didn’t! like I said before, you can’t simply click and access these sites. You’ll need the right tools for this job, starting from a browser.
TOR is the most commonly used browser for accessing the Dark Web, it’s also called The Onion Router. If you look closely, you’ll see that the URL above contains a .onion suffix, which the TOR browser can interpret as a valid URL.
Is it enough?
We got access, but we’ve just entered a very dangerous place. You can easily get traced in the Dark Web, it’s important to keep yourself safe and secret, that’s why it’s recommended to use a VPN. A VPN (virtual private network), is an important step in protecting your privacy while online, disguising your identity from ISPs, and most importantly, from Hackers. Although it seems like the safest solution there is, it won’t always help. It depends on how good the VPN really is, how good the attackers are, and, the way you use it.
Why should someone want to access the Dark Web?
The list is very long and mostly illegal. Some things you can get there:
- Drugs, including forging prescriptions and medical documents.
- Firearms, illegal ones.
- Illegal movies, we prefer not to expand on the subject.
- Sites that contain graphic and gory videos.
- Many many more…
The Hidden Wiki
he Hidden Wiki is one of the oldest link directories on the dark web. It’s famous for listing all important, common .onion links. From drug marketplaces to financial services you can find all the “important” deep web services listed in there. Before 2013 there was another Hidden Wiki on the Tor network, and even now many websites claim to be the Hidden Wiki. Official link of their organization: https://thehiddenwiki.org/
The web is a wonderful place, and a dark one. Remember, before engaging in actions related to the Dark Web, Calculate the Risks and Tread Carefully. No one will try to help you out there, and some will even try to scam you. The difference here, is that even if you’ve been scammed, you won’t be able to turn to anyone for help, not even the police. Even worse, you probably won’t be able to contact or hear from the scammer anymore! He’ll just disappear!
